County housing industry off to a hot start

The January Permit numbers are in, and single-family home construction in El Paso County is off to a hot start in 2021. There were 552 new single-family home permits pulled in January, a 55-percent increase over a very busy January, 2020.

For comparison, here are recent January single-family numbers, according to Pikes Peak Regional Building Department:

2019 - 184; 2020 - 357; 2021 - 552.

In addition, January was a busy month for commercial construction, with 64 permits for new, ground up commercial projects. That's a 94-percent increase over January 2020.
