Security Fire provides updates on three recent house fires

The house at 712 Widefield Drive is shown largely destroyed on Jan. 20 following a major fire, which was determined to be accidental, according to Security Fire Department. The cause appears to have been indoor cooking on a propane stove.

Representatives with the Security Fire Department have provided new details on recent fires and the ongoing investigations.

Earlier, it was reported that two house fires occurred in Security-Widefield area during the week of Jan. 17-23. The first fire occurred across the street from Widefield High School on Jan. 20, while the second one took place early in the morning on Jan. 22 on Harvard Street.

The Jan. 20 fire has been labeled an "accidental fire," and was caused by people inside the house cooking on a propane stove. The Jan. 22 fire is still being investigated, and as of press time t...
