The New Cog Train Opens

One of the new Swiss passenger trains sits at the Manitou platform. The railway has redesigned even the track layout. In the distance is the new shop building addition. All of the railway's trains are stored inside.

On May 20, the first of the regular runs to the top of Pikes Peak left the station in Manitou Springs. The red trains are making regular trips up the new Strub System tracks after a lengthy rebuild. The Broadmoor's Manitou and Pikes Peak Railway will be celebrating their 120th Anniversary this month along with the opening of the new Summit House on the peak.

On the first day five trains, taking about a thousand people, reached the top to see all of the new changes. The work is still going on, and the weather has not helped. There is still several feet of snow around the new viewing platform...
