Dana McNair was arrested June 14 for the death of an infant that occurred in February at McNair's in-home daycare on Widefield Drive.

A local daycare operator has been arrested in connection with the death of a baby in her care.

On Feb. 5, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a call regarding an unresponsive infant at an address in the 500 block of Widefield Drive. Operating at this address was an in-home daycare for numerous children ranging in ages from 18 months to 7 years old. The facility was operated by Dana McNair, 53.

Lifesaving efforts were performed on scene by medical personnel on the infant, who was subsequently transported to a local hospital. The infant later died. An investigation into the infant's death and the overall conditions at the daycare was initiated by the Sheriff's Office.

Today, June 14, at about 11 a.m., members of the Sheriff's Office Investigations Division arrested McNair for one count of Felony Child Abuse Resulting in Death as well as 17 counts of misdemeanor child abuse related to the other children being cared for at the daycare as a result of this investigation.

A search of daycares licensed with the state in the 80911 Zip code does not include any listings with McNair's address or name. There are 22 other listings for 80911, however. To search for licensed daycares by name or location, visit coloradoshines.com.
