Officials urge IRS to deal with unprocessed returns

Washington, D.C. – Several members of Congress, including CO District 5 Rep. Doug Lamborn, sent a letter to Charles Rettig, the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, complaining about poor response times by the IRS.

The letter lays out concerns with the number of unprocessed 2020 tax returns and the inability to receive customer support over the phone. The letter urges the IRS to return more employees to in-person work and to pursue any means to improve efficiency and service. Lamborn's office reports it has dealt with nearly 500 issues related to the IRS over the past year.  ...
