Nature Adventures: Flopping Fish

Thursday, Sept. 9, and Friday, Sept. 10, 9–10:30 a.m.

Children ages 3-6, with an adult, will enjoy puppet shows or stories, crafts, hands-on activities, and discovery time on the trail. $3/person including siblings 2 and over and adults. Prepaid registration required.

Fall Bird Count

Saturday, Sept. 11, 7:30–10:30 a.m.

Join the annual tradition and help record the number of bird species and populations found in Fountain Creek Regional Park during fall migration. $5/person donation.

Homeschool Fridays: Awesome Arthropods

Friday, Sept. 17, 2–4 p.m.

Not “bugs”—arthropods! Learn about insects, spiders, and their relatives with a puppet show, arthropod activity, and guided hike to catch arthropods. Designed for grades K-2. $4 per person, 10 participants; participants can join with other homeschool groups. Prepaid registration required. $4/person.

Girl Scout Badge Event

Saturday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

Daisies, Brownies and Juniors can register for fun sessions to meet badge requirements for these badges:

9-11 Daisies-Buddy Camper 9-11 Brownies-Cabin Camper

1-3 Brownies-Outdoor Adventurer 1-3 Juniors-Eco Camper

Sessions are limited. Prepaid registration required. $5 per girl scout per badge activity.

Creek Week Kickoff Saturday, Sept. 25, 9 a.m.–noon — See story p. 2!

Kickoff this annual week-long clean up event at Fountain Creek Nature Center! Bring your community group to meet “Stan the Can” and clean up waterways or remove invasive species. Register at http://www.fountaincreekweek.com for our cleanup or any other this week!

Active Adults: Gourd Art Workshop

Saturday, Sept. 25, 1–3 p.m.

Bring birds to your backyard with home-made bird houses crafted from gourds. Ages 14+ will learn to create their own unique, beautiful gourd birdhouse. Prepaid registration required. $18 per person, $15 per member. Each participant will bring home a finished piece.
