Damage by washouts

I ran across this item in a Pueblo newspaper of the 1890s. It reminds us that not all of our summers have been dry! It seems that the railroads were suffering from greater than normal wet.
No estimate can be made of the damage done to the Santa Fe and the Rio Grande railways during the storms of the past two days. The Rio Grande is reported to be in a terrible condition on their climb to Fountain and no trains can be gotten through.
