'Person of interest' identified in shooting near Widefield High

El Paso County Sheriff's Office is looking for this person of interest in connection with the Sept. 19 shooting near Widefield High School that left three people injured.

A shooting on Saturday afternoon shortly after the conclusion of the Widefield vs. Mesa Ridge football game marred an otherwise happy Community Day in Widefield School District 3.

On Monday afternoon, El Paso County Sheriff's Office said it was seeking a person of interest, pictured here. The suspect, whoever it is, remains at large.

"The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is looking for assistance in identifying a person of interest in the investigation," a statement said. "Attached is a photograph of an unknown person whom investigators are requesting assistance in identifying."

Three males were shot on Widefield Drive near Widefield High School and Discovery High School around 4:20 p.m. The injured were transported to local hospitals.

Thousands of people lined the streets of Security that morning for the annual Community Day Parade. Many packed into Widefield High School's campus for the rivalry football game with Mesa Ridge High School at 1 p.m.
