Fountain firefighters and city officials help push in the city's newest fire engine into the bay at Station 1 on Oct. 22. The push-in ceremony is a tradition that dates back to horse-drawn engine days.

Fountain Fire held its first ever fire engine push-in ceremony last week, literally and symbolically ushering its newest investment to its new home at Station 1.

The tradition of a push-in ceremony dates back to horse-drawn engine days, Fire Chief James Maxon explained. City officials joined firefighters to push it into the bay, and then they watched demonstrations of the vehicle's abilities and learned about all the bells and whistles.
