Kindergarteners visit Venetucci for pumpkins

Students from Soaring Eagle Elementary visit Venetucci Farm from on Oct. 21. The students began their visit listening to volunteers talk about pumpkins and agriculture, followed by a supervised arts and crafts event. At the end of the visit, students picked out their pumpkins from the field. Each student brought a backpack or a sturdy shopping bag to carry their pumpkin home.

Last week, kindergarteners from around the Colorado Springs area returned to Venetucci Farm to receive free pumpkins - a decades-long tradition.

For more than 50 years, Nick and Bambi Venetucci opened the fields to thousands of children to give away free pumpkins. In 2006, Pikes Peak Real Estate Foundation inherited Venetucci Farm to preserve the property's legacy and ensure the land is protected forever, and the pumpkin giveaway endures for generations.
