City Council celebrates achievements

Fountain Police Department Sgt. Matt Sanchez describes the recent achievements and award attained by the FPD Explorers Program at the Nov. 9 City Council meeting.

The Fountain City Council held its regular meeting on Nov. 9, during which it honored the Fountain Police Explorers Program for its numerous recent achievements, as well as three firefighters who attained a special certification.

Batallion Chief Nate Lenn, Batallion Chief Rick Daniels, and EMS Captain Jared Cass were credentialed as Designated Fire Officers by the Center for Public Safety Excellence. They join a prestigious group of just 571 credentialed Fire Officers worldwide, Fire Chief James Maxon said.

The next council meeting was scheduled for Nov. 16. Please see next week's issue for a full recap of both meetings.

Also, note that a swearing-in ceremony has been scheduled for Nov. 23, during which newly elected City Council members and Mayor-Elect Sharon Thompson are expected to take their oaths of office.
