K-9 Goose, a 2-year-old English Labrador who is a nationally certified narcotics detection dog, recently joined the Fountain Police Department.

Goose is working with Officer Brett Ryder, a four-year veteran of FPD. Officer Ryder transferred to the K-9 Unit in early October. He and Goose obtained their national certification with the National Police Canine Association on Oct. 29 after training with Johnson's K-9, a local K-9 training company with over 40 years of police dog and handler training.

The team hit the streets of Fountain on Nov. 1, and have already located illegal narcotics several times.

"They will be an invaluable asset to the Fountain Police Department and the citizens of Fountain," a spokesperson said.
