One-day closure on Fontaine set for Dec. 1

Fontaine Boulevard will be closed between Fountain Mesa Road and Metropolitan Street for tree removal activities on Dec. 1. The work is expected to be completed in one day, with the closure in place from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

There are advance warnings and signage in place. Traffic will be detoured using Metropolitan Street on the west side and Fountain Mesa Road on the east.

Meanwhile, work on Fountain Mesa related to the roundabout and restriping is on hold this week and will resume the week of Dec. 6. At that time, the public can expect to see the following:

- The Fountain Mesa Road and Caballero Avenue intersection will be converted to stop control

- Traffic will be reduced from one lane north and one lane south on Fountain Mesa Road and shifted to the east

- Caballero Avenue at Fountain Mesa road will be closed with traffic detoured up Caballero to Grand Peak Road. See attached map of detour.

Week of Dec. 6:

Set traffic control

Remove overhead signs, signal poles

Locate utilities

Removal of trees, asphalt, curb, gutter and sidewalks

Weeks of Dec. 13, 20, and 27

Stormwater improvements

Work Completed:

Asphalt milling/overlay paving and striping operations on Fountain Mesa Road from Caballero Avenue to Fontaine Boulevard

Note: Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change, which may impact this construction schedule and duration.
