The 23-year-old son of a Janitell Junior High teacher is one of two people shot and killed at the Memorial Park skate park in Colorado Springs on Nov. 20.
"I am a teacher at Janitell, and my teammate and good friend, Sandy Celano, is living her worst nightmare," Meri Spezialetti explained. "Her only child, Gage, was one of the two killed at the Memorial Skate Park shooting. Not only did she lose her only child, she also lost one nephew, Dominic, and the other is currently in the critical care unit."
The nephews had recently relocated to Colorado Springs from Hollister, California, where their father recently retired as a police sergeant. They moved to this area to be closer to their family. Dom was just 14. Dylan, who is recovering in the hospital with serious injuries, is 12.
Spezialetti is raising funds for her fellow teacher and her family.
"Sandy has been hit with so many unforeseen expenses with this tragedy," she said. "I'm asking for donations to help them through. If you can't, just sharing the link will help tremendously. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart."
