In a tradition that dates back several years, the District Attorney's Office of the Fourth Judicial District is continuing to fulfill the wishlists of local school children. Last week, DA Michael Allen distributed gifts to 12 students at Pinello Elementary School. Students had been identified by school staff as needing a little extra help with gifts.
"It's really our opportunity to reach out to some community members that might struggle a little bit to have gifts for Christmas," DA's Office Public Information Officer Howard Black said. "It brought tears to all of our eyes. It was our honor to be there."
Allen spent time with each student individually to hand out a primary gift, and they all received bags full of smaller gifts from their lists. Under normal circumstances, students and their families visit the DA's Office for the gift distribution and visit with Santa. It was done differently this year due to COVID.
Next week, Allen's staff will visit students in Cripple Creek for another round of presents.
