Lane closures, traffic shifts on 1-25

Last updated 12/30/2021 at 11:23am

Starting Monday, Jan. 3, new traffic shifts and lane closures will take place on I-25 through Fountain.

Colorado Department of Transportation and Contractor SEMA Construction, Inc. will shift southbound I-25 over South Academy Boulevard (Exit 135), southbound I-25 over Clover Ditch (MP 131.2), and southbound I-25 over Dry Wash (MP 128.34). The traffic shifts will vary from 7 to 12 feet toward the outside and will require a nighttime single-lane closure. The traffic shifts in these three locations are to allow for crews to widen the bridge structures southbound over Clover Ditch and southbound I-25 over Dry Wash and begin the initial phases (demolition and reconstruction) of the I-25 bridges over South Academy.

There will also be daytime shoulder closures on eastbound and westbound South Academy Boulevard and nighttime left lane closures on South Academy Boulevard. Motorists should plan for lane closures, lane shifts, and striping crews with possible traffic delays to prepare for the bridge work.

In addition, work will continue on I-25 along a 7.5-mile segment between South Academy Boulevard and extending to the Santa Fe Avenue exit. Work will take place during evening and early morning hours, with lane closures on southbound I-25 to continue installation of permanent advance warning signs. Construction of northbound emergency pullouts (MP 129.6, 130.7, 132.7 and 133.7) with paving and barrier installation will require right-lane closures on northbound I-25.
