As part of an investigation into a Sunday evening crash that injured one adult and two children on I-25 south of Fountain, the Colorado State Patrol is asking for any witnesses to come forward.
At approximately 6 p.m., CSP was notified of a single-vehicle injury crash that occurred on I-25 near milepost 120 in El Paso County. After arriving on scene, Troopers learned that the driver, a 30-year-old man from Calhan, had been ejected and was seriously injured. Troopers also learned that two children, 6 and 7 years old, were still inside the vehicle and were also injured.
The driver and two children were taken to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries. The right lane of northbound I-25 was closed intermittently while the scene was investigated.
The vehicle, identified as a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, was seen speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before the crash; this is being investigated as a possible contributing factor. If you witnessed the crash or observed the Chevrolet before the crash, please contact Trooper Glen Brown at 719-544-2424.
