Weekly work schedule for I-25, S. Academy, Charter Oak

This aerial photo shows the area of South Academy Boulevard that will be undergoing extensive work as part of the MAMSIP project.

Colorado Department of Transportation and SEMA Construction will be setting barriers and restriping portions of South Academy Boulevard near I-25, Monday, Feb. 14, through Wednesday, Feb. 16, This project work will require left and right lane closures, east- and westbound on South Academy Boulevard.

There will be full lane closures overnight Thursday, Feb. 17, on eastbound South Academy Boulevard, under I-25, so construction crews can perform demolition work on the south facing overhangs on the bridges. Commuters going eastbound will be shifted to the westbound lanes to get across the interchange.

Nighttime work continues on I-25 Sunday, Feb. 13, with a left lane closures on I-25 to allow crews to continue setting temporary barriers. This work will continue nightly through Wednesday, Feb. 16.

Commuters will continue to experience a lane shift on northbound I-25 beginning at Santa Fe Avenue to South Academy Boulevard. With the narrowing of lanes on I-25, officials encourage drivers to eliminate distractions and drive the posted speed limit for the safety of everyone.

Construction on the roundabout located at Santa Fe Avenue and Charter Oak Ranch Road has begun. Crews are currently working on utility relocations and drainage improvements, which includes the replacement of existing features with new pipes, inlets and water quality/detention features.

Milling operations will begin east- and westbound on Charter Oak Ranch Road as crews work to prepare the road surface for the upcoming widening the roadway. An increase in Truck Traffic can be expected on I-25 as the excavated material from Santa Fe Ave. and Charter Oak Ranch Road will be hauled to I-25 to be used as embankment.

Nighttime work is expected to start Wednesday, Feb. 16, to Friday, Feb. 18, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., with flagging operations for alternating single lane closure to accommodate milling operations on Charter Oak Ranch Road.

A Courtesy Patrol will be driving the work zone and will respond to incidents when notified. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and holidays.

South Academy Boulevard

Monday, Feb. 14, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., left and right lane closures, westbound on South Academy Boulevard under I-25.

Tuesday, Feb. 15, 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., left and right lane closures, eastbound on South Academy Boulevard under I-25.

Tuesday, Feb 15, 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., left and right lane closures westbound on South Academy Boulevard under I-25.

Wednesday, Feb 16, 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., left and right lane closures, east- and westbound on South Academy Boulevard under I-25.

Thursday, Feb. 17, 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., full closure eastbound on South Academy Boulevard under I-25.

Various shoulder closures in the right lane on east- and westbound can be expected 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the week.

I-25 between South Academy Boulevard and Santa Fe Avenue (MP 135 – 127)

Sunday, Feb. 13, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., left lane closure southbound I-25 at MP 127-135.

Sunday, Feb. 13, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., left lane closure northbound I-25 at MP 127-135.

Monday, Feb. 14 and Tuesday, Feb. 15, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., left lane closure northbound I-25 at MP 127-135.

Monday, Feb. 14 and Tuesday, Feb. 15, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., left lane closure southbound I-25 at MP 127-135.

Various day/night shoulder closures as needed at MP 127-135.

Speed limit reduction to 55 MPH during night construction hours and emergency daytime work. Speed reduction will be enforced by State Patrol.

Eleven-foot lane width restrictions

Santa Fe Avenue and Charter Oak Ranch Road

Monday, Feb. 14th, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., flagging operations for alternating single lane closure on Charter Oak Ranch Road to allow crews to implement the traffic shift and setting of barriers.

Wednesday, Feb. 16 to Friday, Feb. 18, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., nighttime flagging operations for alternating single lane closure to accommodate milling operations on Charter Oak Ranch Road.

Drainage improvements will be taking place on the intersection at Santa Fe Avenue and Charter Oak Ranch Road.
