Fans of Dutch Bros. Coffee are excited about the grand opening of the new location on Mesa Ridge Parkway in Fountain today.

But staff and volunteers of a local food pantry – Connections 4 Life Center in Fountain – are thrilled that the new shop has chosen C4L as the very first beneficiary of its "Dutch Luv" campaign this Friday, Feb. 18. The new Dutch Bros. will give $1 from every drink sold that day to C4L to help support the nonprofit's mission of feeding the hungry.

Dutch Luv is the company's corporate campaign to support local food banks across the country on the same day. Dutch Luv Day started in 2007 as a canned food drive at shops throughout the company. In 2016, Dutch Luv transitioned from a canned food drive to a giveback day in which $1 from each drink sold at every shop goes to local organizations to help fight hunger. To date, Dutch Bros' Dutch Luv Day has raised more than $2.3 million for local organizations helping feed families.

On average, local food banks are able to use each $1 donation to provide three meals. Local management of each shop chooses a nonprofit organization in their community to support. Staff from C4L said they were surprised and elated to learn the local management had selected C4L for this donation.

Dutch Bros. will accept additional cash or card donations for C4L. Those wanting to donate food directly to C4L should contact C4L to make arrangements.

C4L serves the Fountain, Fort Carson, Security and Widefield communities. C4L distributes 340,000 pounds of food to more than 30,000 people. In addition to feeding the hungry, C4L offers Life Steps classes to help recipients overcome the issues that brought them there. Pregnancy support is offered through a partnership with Life Network of Colorado Springs. A thrift store and other services are offered as well.

Connections 4 Life Center is located at 6436 S. Hwy. 85-87, Suite U, in Fountain, just behind the Wendy's, Hangry Ohana, and the El Paso County Public Health offices. Visit connections4lifecenter.org for more information.
