In Loving Memory of Betty J. Powell

November 13, 1929 - March 1, 2022

Betty J. Powell passed away peacefully in her home with her dog and family at her side. She was born in Sabetha, Kansas, on November 13, 1929, to Charles and Ruby Wetzel. She was 92 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jack E. Powell Sr., her parents, and her brother Charles (Junior & Marlene) Wetzel.

She is survived by her three children, Jack (Sandy) Powell, Regina (Rick) Kardash, and Jeff (Karol) Powell, and her younger brother Joe (Connie) Wetzel; five grandchildren, Shawna (Mike), Branden, Justen, Bradley (Angie) and Alisha (Jason); six great-grandchildren, Sheridan, Austin (Tiffany), Micaiah, Bryce, Brett and Zane; one great-great-grandson, Lane.

She spent most of her life in Fountain and at one time even worked for this paper. Her family meant everything to her, and she enjoyed camping and family get togethers. Betty was the matriarch of a large family and kept things running like (a General) over a small army. She retired from Ampex and spent her retired years volunteering for the Fountain Valley Historical Museum. One of the highlights in her later years was being the Grand Marshal of the Labor Day Parade with her husband Jack in 2013.

Graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Fountain on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11 a.m.
