The "Thrill of Thrift" Fashion Show held Feb. 26 at the Fountain Valley YMCA raised $1,625 for Fountain Valley Scholars, enough to fund more than two scholarships for local high school seniors. The show featured many community leaders from local school districts, libraries, public safety departments, and more, who were styled in thrift store clothing by students.

This fun event is just one of the fundraisers for Fountain Valley Scholars. For nearly 30 years, FVS has awarded students in Widefield School District 3 and Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 with college scholarships.

FVS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing scholarships for high-achieving and eligible seniors from D3 and D8 high schools to help them attend the college or university of their choice. Scholarships are awarded to recipients each May.

"This is not possible without community support," organizer Sam Briggs said. "Thankfully, we live in a community that is not only kind and generous, but strives to see our youth excel in education."

FVS's biggest fundraiser is the annual FVS Golf Tournament held at the Cheyenne Shadows Golf Club on Fort Carson. This year's tournament is scheduled for Monday, July 18, 2022. FVS is currently seeking sponsors and teams for the tournament. Details on sponsorship packages and the event can be found at
