A mountain lion is pictured up in a tree in Boulder recently.

A possible mountain lion sighting near Mesa Ridge Parkway was reported Tuesday evening. Some residents said one may have been spotted near the Mesa Ridge Apartments.

Reports of mountain lions around Colorado have been up in recent weeks. Although not an everyday occurrence in populated areas, the wild cats do visit residential areas from time to time.

Colorado Parks and & Wildlife advises traveling in groups, carrying a sturdy walking stick for protection, and keeping children close by and within eyesight.
