Speech, speech! WSD3 elementary students talk resiliency

Fifth-grade winners

All elementary schools in Widefield School District 3 participated in a speech competition last week. This year's event included D3 My Way and James Madison Charter Academy. Third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students gave speeches on the topic of resiliency. Some recited poems and short passages, and others created their own. This Thursday the district goes on to host a spelling bee for fourth- and fifth-graders at Widefield High School.

Winners of the speech contest in each grade were:

Third Grade

Grand - Galen Kshywonis (D3 My Way)

Gold - Maisalynn Martin (Sunrise)

Silver - Katelyn Squire (Webster)

Bronze - Kai Arnold (King)

Fourth Grade

Grand - Korbin Dillard (D3 My Way)

Gold - Charlotte Wilson (Webster)

Silver - Lincoln Spangler (King)

Bronze - Calyn Elliott (James Madison Charter Academy)

Fifth Grade

Grand - Mataio Nardo (Webster)

Gold - Elandre Williams (Talbott)

Silver - Ezekiel RuizRyan (D3 My Way)

Bronze - Noe Borjoas (Grand Mountain)
