Calling all movie lovers

Last updated 3/15/2022 at 3:23pm

Do you enjoy watching a good movie? Eating hot buttered popcorn? Discussing a film with others? Uncovering author or playwright’s intent and how that impacted viewers?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, join with others at Calvary Fellowship Fountain Valley, 4945 Cable Lane in Security, for “Saturday Night at the Movies.” Beginning Saturday, March 19 at 6 p.m., meet monthly in Fellowship Hall on the third Saturday for this free event. (Exception: Due to Easter, we will meet the fourth Saturday.)

Wondering how discussion will be handled? Local author and educator of 43 years, Kenneth Lippincott, director of Senior Adult Ministries at Calvary Fellowship Fountain Valley, will be the host. Each session will feature a facilitator and discussion leaders for men’s and women’s groups.

“Our first movie will be Facing the Giants,” Lippincott said. “Some may have watched it in a theater or at home. The story line is compelling, the characters relatable. But…we are going to look at the movie through a different lens. We are going to look for life lessons…what does it seem to be saying about men, women, marriage, work, child rearing, families, and more topics usually covered in premarital counselling. Most important we are going to ask ourselves what does God want me to learn from this movie…beginning with Facing the Giants.”

Movies featured after “Facing the Giants” are “Fireproof,” “Courageous,” “War Room,” “Overcomers,” “Courageous Legacy,” “Show Me the Father,” and more. For more information call Calvary Fellowship Fountain Valley at 719-382-3711 or contact Ken Lippincott directly at 719-391-0695.
