Citizens plead for new grocery store

This vacant lot at the corner of West Missouri and South Santa Fe avenues in Fountain was the proposed site for a grocery store, but those plans have been put on hold.

Monday night, March 14, there was a public meeting at Fountain City Hall to discuss the subject of getting a new grocery store in or near the downtown area. The subject was on the agenda of the city's Economic Development Commission, chaired by Harville Small.

The first person to speak for an ad hoc group in support of a downtown grocery store was Brittany Fechko, who explained the results of a survey largely favored such a development.
