The Teal boots tell a tale

The 3rd ABCT, 4th Inf. Div. Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) team, Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Nemier, the brigade victim advocate, and Sgt. 1st Class Adriana Gonsalves, the brigade sexual assault response coordinator, alongside the Iron Brigade command team, Col. Stephen Capehart and Command Sgt. Major Kenneth Chaney commemorate the start of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month with a teal ribbon cutting outside brigade headquarters at Fort Carson on April 1.

This month, visitors to the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division headquarters at Fort Carson will notice a new display on their walk in.

Forty-five pairs of teal-painted boots representing survivors of sexual assault will remain on display throughout the month of April as part of Sexual Harassment and Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.

As Iron Soldiers and visitors walk past these boots this month, they are encouraged to reflect on the display and remember these 45 Soldiers from the Army whose lives were irrevocably changed by sexual assault.
