Fort Carson Fire and Emergency personnel continue to battle a wildland fire on a Fort Carson training range as of Friday morning. The fire broke out Thursday afternoon.
At this time it is estimated that the fire has burned approximately 210 acres, but it is now about 40 percent contained.
On Thursday, Fort Carson had assistance from mutual aid partners Stratmoor Hills, Security and Hwy. 115 fire departments. Those mutual aid assets now have been released. There are still no structures or personnel threatened. Smoke will continue to be visible along the Hwy. 115 corridor as crews work to increase containment.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
