Community members from the Fountain area will participate in the Great American Cleanup on April 30 at the Hanson Trailhead of the Fountain Creek Trail. Volunteers will meet here – just west of the intersection of Grinde Drive and Trapper Lane – at 10 a.m.

Bags, gloves and vests will be provided.

The local cleanup is just one of many scheduled April 30 along the Fountain Creek Watershed from Palmer Lake all the way down to Pueblo.

Also on April 30, there is a free Community Night at the Fountain Recycling Center, featuring hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks, games, children's museum, vendors, and arts and crafts. This is a good way to get to know the center, learn about the community garden, and get connected.

The center always needs volunteer help from area residents, since it serves so many different functions.

The Recycling Center is located at 301 E. Iowa Ave. in Fountain. The Center's phone number is 719-639-4355. It's open Tuesday-Thursday (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) and on the first and third Saturday of every month (10-1).
