Council votes to deny de-annexation

The vote on the Kane Ranch de-annexation request was 4-3 against, as shown in the voting record on the screen above during the April 26 Fountain City Council meeting. Below, a number of people came to speak both for and against the request.

The Fountain City Council voted 4-3 last week to deny a developer's request to de-annex the 2,400-acre Kane Ranch property from the city.

Now, the matter is expected to head to District Court for an outside judgment on the matter.

The vote came after another debate about whether the city should allow development company La Plata to exit the city because of the city's previously-discussed lack of water for such a large-scale development.
