Congressional Art Competition on display at Springs Airport

Congressman Doug Lamborn presents the "Best of Show" award to Andrew Bailey, a student at Fountain-Fort Carson High School, on May 6. Student art from numerous area schools will be on display at the Colorado Springs Airport through May 16.
Andrew Bailey, a student at Fountain-Fort Carson High School whose photographs have been featured in this newspaper numerous times, soon will have his artwork featured in Washington D.C.
Bailey's photograph "The Void" was selected the "Best in Show" for the annual 5th Congressional District Art Competition, which includes El Paso, Teller, Fremont, Chaffee, and Park Counties.
The artwork in this competition represents some of the very best in each school. Several other local students are featured. One entry from each district is awarded the grand prize "Best of Show" award and put on display in Washington D.C. The art of all the "Best of Show" winners from around the nation is displayed for one year along the corridor between the U.S. Capitol Building and the Longworth House Office Building and can be seen by untold thousands of tourists and art lovers from around the world.
All 138 pieces in this district are on Display at the Colorado Springs Airport until May 16. They represent work by 116 students from 14 schools in several different art categories from photography to painting.
