Isabella Montano

By Sam Briggs, APR, WSD3 Director of Communications

Isabella Montano, a second-grade student at King Elementary, was awarded the 9-1-1 Hero certificate for her ability to remain calm and follow instructions during a medical emergency.

Isabella was surprised with the award during an assembly on why and how students should use 911. Members of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, the Colorado Springs Police Department, and the Stratmoor Fire Department attended the assembly to surprise and thank Isabella for her bravery. She even got to meet the dispatchers that took the call and the emergency personnel who arrived at her house.

Isabella's mom was having a seizure the first time she called 911. Her mom was taken to the hospital and released home. Hours later, her mom was having issues again, and she called 911 a second time. This time grandma was there to assist.
