Multiple bomb threats made at stores

Fountain first responders block the entrances to the Walmart shopping center on Hwy. 85 the morning of June 1 due to a bomb threat.

Fountain Police took a suspect into custody after a bomb threat at Walmart and McDonalds on Hwy. 85 the morning of June 1.

The suspect initially made the threat at McDonald's before heading toward Walmart. Police officers responded to the scene within 5 minutes, spotted the suspect who was trying to run away, and tackled him, Fountain Police Cmdr. Mark Cristiani said.

The Colorado Springs bomb unit cleared the area and checked the package. No one was injured, he added.

The man was later identified as 39-year-old Robert Mark Lantz of Fountain.
