The Sunny Side Market volunteers in Fountain won Care and Share Food Bank's 2022 Volunteer Group of the Year Award at the 2022 Community Champions event. Held in April, Care and Share's Community Champions event recognized outstanding food and monetary donors, retail partners, agencies, and volunteers.
Sunny Side Market Fountain has had more than 285 unique volunteers since its doors opened to the community in February 2021. In total, volunteers have contributed 4,731 hours. We are grateful to have about 20 recurring volunteers who come in on a weekly-to-monthly basis.
"Our Sunny Side Market volunteers are a special group. Care and Share has one employee managing each Sunny Side Market, and the rest is made possible by the volunteers who show up for every shift," said Joanna Wise, Care and Share Food Bank Marketing and Communications Director. "They help stock the shelves before doors open, keep the market clean, and build relationships with neighbors. They are the epitome of community, and Care and Share is proud to work alongside them."
Sunny Side Market at Walt Fortman (501 E. Iowa Ave., Fountain, 80817) is open the following hours:
Tuesday and Saturday (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) and Wednesday (3-7 p.m.). Register in advance at SunnySideMarket.org
