Wag of the Week

Hi folks, from what I hear, oodles of doodles would be nice, but for now, we have only one: Hairy (sic) is offered by Tumbleweed Country Kennels. He is young, a couple of years old, and about 60 pounds. As an aside, I had just this morning asked Tumbleweed if I might trade in my husband for a dog – and his name is Harry. The other funny thing is that if, long ago in prehistoric times, he'd taken my last name, vs. me his, he'd be Harry Shavin (as in hairy shaven, an oxymoron, in addition to being profoundly less attentive and cute than a dog) – but I digress.

I haven't seen Hairy's photo at this time of writing – but he's probably a Labradoodle or Goldendoodle. Idea: google doodle (sorry, I couldn't resist). There are also Bernedoodles, Aussiedoodles, and so forth. A Doodle is (I guess, obviously) a cross between a Poodle and another breed. The original Doodle was a Labradoodle. At first, Doodles were advertised as hypoallergenic, but actually there is no such thing as a truly hypoallergenic dog. Allergens are carried in dander (dead skin cells), saliva, and urine, so they are impossible to fully avoid. I am technically allergic to dogs and cats (also husbands and children), but instead of shots, I got homeopathic drops. I say "got – " I never got around to using them because I choose to suffer for my choices. Anyway, perhaps don't dawdle, just doodle, and keep yourself and your pets cool. I have only a laboring swamp cooler but am looking into AC for one room. The house wiring (house is 98 years old) may not be able to run it, but we'll see. At least I have an excuse for being a hothead. For those around me, it's mercifully seasonal.

Remember to put your dogs on heartworm preventative: but they have to test negative first. HW meds for a positive dog are very dangerous.

Many other dogs are still available from AARF and Tumbleweed. AARF holds adoption fairs at Petsmart on Powers Saturdays 11-2: 2965 N New Center Pt., Colorado Springs, CO 80922. HOWEVER, SOMETIMES THE FAIR IS ON A SUNDAY. PLEASE CHECK the website/Facebook for any updates (such as inclement weather, also). Sometimes the fair is right here in Fountain at Tumbleweed Country Kennels. More info, & call any time: JULIE at 719-375-1200 (land line) or Cathy at 719-761-5320. Email: [email protected] or [email protected] Facebook: AARF Colorado. Also try Tumbleweed Country Kennels is also on Facebook. YOU CAN NOW VIEW DOGS AT TUMBLEWEED ANY DAY OF THE WEEK – PLEASE CALL AHEAD: 719 382-1126 (I now need to dial area code for every call).
