Two special dogs at the Fountain Police Department will be receiving potentially life-saving protective gear thanks to some generous donors in the community.

K-9s Goose and Moody each will receive a bullet and stab-protective vest through charitable donations from the nonprofit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

Goose's vest is sponsored by Jonathan Allamani of Colorado Springs, and will be embroidered with the sentiment "Honoring those who served and sacrificed." Goose joined FPD in the fall of 2021 and focuses on narcotics searches.

Moody's vest is sponsored by Mindy King of Heart'felt Travels in Fountain, and will be embroidered with the sentiment "In memory of Jinx, El Paso County SO, EOW 4/11/22."  Moody joined FPD in the fall of 2020. Moody also specializes in drug detection.

Jinx is the beloved El Paso County Sheriff''s Office K-9 who was shot and killed in the line of duty by an armed suspect in Manitou Springs on April 9.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab-protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States.
