There are numerous activities in celebration of Independence Day coming up around the region.

Locally, the Security Fire Department Station 1 will once again host the annual 4th of July breakfast, a fundraiser for the Security Volunteer Fire Department. The event features plenty of breakfast foods, music, and interactive displays for the whole family. It will be July 4 from 6-11 a.m. at 400 Security Blvd. Cost is $6 for adults, and $4 for children and seniors.

In Colorado Springs, the community is invited to celebrate the 4th of July at the new Star-Spangled Symphony & July 4th Block Party. Enjoy a free concert and block party at the Pikes Peak Center in downtown Colorado Springs. Festivities begin at 3:30 p.m. and conclude at 7. The 80-minute concert begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Pikes Peak Center.

An All-American Celebration: In addition to the indoor concert, the adjacent street outside of the Pikes Peak Center will be closed for a block party to include food vendors, beer garden, yard games, simultaneous broadcast of the concert outside on the north lawn, and more.

Then, to wrap up the night, turn on your favorite local radio station while viewing one of several fireworks shows across the Pikes Peak region. Broadcast starts at 9 p.m .; fireworks start at 9:15 (weather and fire ban dependent). This format, which began in 2020, replaces the single fireworks show at Memorial Park.
