Officer Hammill of the Fountain Police Department carries away a young fawn that had been hit by a car on Mesa Ridge Parkway just east of Safeway on Friday morning. The mother deer and another fawn escaped injury and ran to the north side of the road. Though injured, this fawn had stumbled to the south side of the road and was crying loudly while hiding in the brush. Concerned passersby waited with the animal until help came. Remember to watch out for wildlife while driving.
