Real-life K-9 heroes in training

Roux gets strapped in for a special K9 training session July 2 designed to help dogs and their human crews help prepare for rescue situations in diverse terrain. Roux is a lab puppy born in March.

On July 2, K9s from El Paso County Search and Rescue, Teller County Search and Rescue and Fremont Search and Rescue, Inc. had an extra special training day at the mountain property of some of their handlers. In addition to practicing their air scenting, trailing, and human remains detection skills, they also had the opportunity to experience a traverse on a Tyrolean and practice rappelling. It was great time and resulted in lots of very happy and tired dogs, organizers said.
