An annual full-scale exercise to test Fort Carson’s emergency response and recovery systems will take place on post Aug. 15-19.

Dubbed Mountain Guardian 22, this year’s exercise scenario will test how the installation responds to and recovers from a large-scale power outage that could last up to several days.

Access to the installation via Gate 19 may be periodically impacted during this event. Service members, Families and civilian employees are encouraged to use other gates to access Fort Carson during this time.

Additional information will be provided closer to the start, and throughout, the exercise.

Annual full-scale exercises allow Fort Carson to evaluate emergency response plans, identify capability gaps, and refine processes so that in the event of a real catastrophic situation, the installation is ready to respond while continuing to care for Soldiers and Families.

The full-scale exercise is a culmination of smaller exercises completed by the garrison staff throughout the year in order to ensure the post is prepared to respond to any potential emergency situation that may arise.
