Part-time Transportation Driver needed: Fountain Valley Senior Center is looking for a professional, responsible individual who has a passion to serve Seniors with their transportation needs. 15-26 hours a week, Monday thru Friday (no weekend hours) and a flexible schedule. We will provide the training; a drug screening will be required and your driving record will be checked. Please contact the Senior Center at 719-600-2643 and ask to speak Mark or Clara. You may also stop by the office at 5745 Southmoor Dive, Fountain and pick up an application. Immediate opening available.

We are also searching for an outgoing, professional, positive volunteer for the front office. Tuesday thru Thursday hours are available between the hours of 9:00 and 3:00. Answering phones, welcoming members to the center and simple office duties are main needs. You may call the office at 719-600-2644 or drop by the office at 5745 Southmoor Drive between the hour of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday.

Coffee and Donuts – Monday thru Friday starting at 8:00 am – donations welcome, donuts are .50 cents. Come join us and shoot the breeze, chew the fat, spread some gossip,

Bingo – Every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00 pm. Cash prizes, popcorn, soda and great fun.

Lunches are served Monday thru Friday from 11:30 – 12:30 for a suggested donation of $3.50 for those over 60. If you are under 60 there is a cost of $7.25 per person.

Game Day is the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Senior Center. Card games, dominoes and other games are played and lunch is at 11:00 am. Bring a dish to share and enjoy a fabulous main dish prepared by Richard and Shelly Igo. This is a fundraiser and a suggested donation of $5.00 is welcomed.

The Thrift Store is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm and on the 1st Saturday of the month for Super Saturday where all items are 50% off. The third Thursday of the month is Military Day and with a valid Military id, items are 50% off.

Special Events

Cripple Creek Run — Got an itch to go up the hill and hear the slot machines? This month’s bus trip to Cripple Creek is Aug. 20. Bus leaves the center at 9 a.m. and leaves Cripple Creek at 4 p.m. Members will have priority for reservations. There will be a $20 fee for transportation. Reservations are limited to 12 riders. Nonmembers will be placed on a wait list, with a fee of $30.

Dinner on the Town will be Aug. 24 at 3 Margaritas. Call the office to make your reservation.

Lunch is served Monday through Friday from 11:30–12:30. There is a suggested donation of $3.50 for Seniors over 60 and a required $7.50 for those under 60. Reservations are required to be called in 24 hours in advance. Call 719-600-2644. See menu on this page.

BINGO—Each Tuesday AND Thursday at 1 p.m. $5 for 6 games, cash prizes. Come for lunch before BINGO.

Dementia Support Group meets every third Monday of the month at 2 p.m. at the center in the conference room. The public is invited to attend.

Cardio Drumming meets at the center every Tuesday at 2 p.m. for a half-hour of music, exercise and fun.

Tap Dance Classes — Dottie White teaches a tap class Tuesdays 10:15-11:15 a.m. for all abilities. Call the office to participate.

Blood Pressure Checks — Bi monthly Blood Pressure checks are back at the Senior Center. Volunteers will record your blood pressure and weight at the center every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10:15-11:15.

Transportation is provided by appointment for seniors 60-plus or non-elderly disabled to: medical appointments, congregate meals, shopping, personal business, and FVSC. Call 719-600-2643 at least 48 hours in advance.

Thursdays are prescription pickup day at Fort Carson. Instructions for us to pick up your prescriptions: When you call Evans for refills you need to select option three (3). This will send your prescription to the old commissary, where the FVSC representative will pick it up before delivering it to your house.
