Railroad crews were busy repairing the tracks at Ohio Avenue and Fountain Mesa Road on Wednesday morning.

UPDATE: The railroad crossing had reopened as of early Wednesday afternoon.

The railroad crossing at Ohio Avenue and Fountain Mesa Road remained closed Wednesday morning as crews repaired damage to tracks from an incident involving a truck Tuesday evening.

According to city of Fountain officials, a semi traveling eastbound on Ohio Ave (which is not a truck route) caused damage to the railroad tracks at the intersection early Tuesday evening.

Due to the extensive amount of damage to the railroad tracks, this intersection was closed and traffic will not be able to cross the tracks in either direction for an extended period of time. They were hoping to have it open later Wednesday. However, cars are still able to make the turn from and to Ohio eastbound from Fountain Mesa.

Please take time this evening to plan alternate routes if this is a normal travel route because this closure will affect that.
