Captured by the 'Rona

Well folks here we are, it is Labor Day Monday and I have finally been captured.

I have the Miss Rona, as my daughter calls it. (Corona Virus) Yes, it's Covid season at my house... Don't worry it isn't 'gonna gitcha' through the paper. There is a very specific reason as to why my daughter and I contracted the virus; I am not going to go into that right now... But I now have an axe to grind with someone. Old Man has not had a single symptom and has been doing his usual thing around the house, though he is symptom clear, he is aware that he can still carry it and has quarantined with us.

It has been pure misery both for my daughter and I. To say this is just a cold? ... no way! Not in my experience or in my daughter's. You cannot explain the way it moves through you as it ravages what feels like all of the cells in your body and the pain, I had no idea about the pain! The odd thing that I have found is that so many people when they hear we have the virus they often ask if it is our first time having had it...and seem surprised when I say it is. Oh my word! I do not want this again!

To be clear, this has been rough and we are vaccinated in my house, it does not stop you from contracting the virus but is said to lesson the symptoms if you do contract it. Well folks if these were symptoms lessoned... Wow I cannot imagine what it was like for the folks who caught the original strain of this evil before the vaccine. I now understand more clearly why we lost so many at the beginning of the pandemic. People like my father and the many thousands of good folks that we lost in 2020 and the years since.

I do see a light at the end of the tunnel and my daughter is hopeful to be back in school on Wednesday, of course wearing a mask as prescribed by the CDC. What an awful way to kick off her college career though.

So outside of that I can also give you an update on Old Man's car situation... he did get it back, it was washed and the year of dust cleaned from the dash. He is currently driving the vehicle and they offered no compensation for the year they held the car hostage. Seems there was no recourse to be had ... he simply has the car.

I also have to tell you that I have missed some meetings of our board because of the Rona but I am the Secretary on the Board for The Ellicott Bee Hive, a nonprofit organization, to create a closer knitted community and bring about positive change. We are in need of funds to care for our community park because that is our focus currently and so we are having an event!

The First Annual Tumbleweed Festival of Ellicott! The address is 23355 Hwy. 94 at the Ellicott Plaza 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 17.

We will have a car show, bouncy houses, foods, craft vendors, raffles and auctions. We also have some rumors about some live music, it will be Great! Wishing Star Farms will be open. You can take the kiddos go visit the animals and ride their train. Then make sure to visit The Hanson Honeybee Farm and get some local gooey goodness and many wares they offer in store. Come out and enjoy a lovely family friendly day with friends.
