Good day, I hope all are doing great and enjoying the recent cool, fall weather. This week I want to highlight the upcoming general election and remind residents of how great a time this season is to get to our great outdoors.
After a full week of work, I was pleased to head out into the hills this Sunday for my annual drive to see the changing of the fall colors and the splendor of our golden aspens. Though it was a cloudy day for most of my trip, it was ablaze in color and I was also able to enjoy a nice 2.5 mile hike as well. And I was lucky enough on the hike to see a moose just off the trail (only the 2nd time I've seen a moose in the wild). I anticipate one more good week of color before the aspen leaves fall and I encourage all to get out into the mountains to take in the great and colorful views.
Also, I hope all who are eligible are registered to vote as the 2022 General Election is approaching fast. Military and overseas residents ballots have already been mailed and we expect ballots to local residents to be mailed out on Monday, Oct. 17. The General election this year will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8. All ballots must be in the hands of the county clerk by 7 p.m. on election day in order to be counted. Ballots cast by military and overseas voters must be sent no later than 7 p.m. on election day and received by the close of business on the 8th day after the election.
If you wish to vote in-person, you may do so at a voter service and polling center. To find your local polling locations, please visit http://www.GoVoteColorado.gov. Also, the State utilizes "BallotTrax," a free service that you can sign-up for that allows you to track the status of your mail ballot. Once enrolled you will receive notifications by phone, email, or text updating you when your mail ballot is sent, received, and counted. To sign-up simply go to Colorado.BallotTrax.net and enter your first name, last name, date of birth, and residential zip code. You will be prompted to select methods of notification, your language preference, and notification hours.
