Annual Trunk or Treat for Seniors — Friday, Oct. 28, from 1-3 p.m. at the center, 5745 Southmoor Drive.

Holiday Craft Fair — Saturday, Dec. 10. Limited tables are available. For more information call (719) 600-2644.

Dinner on the Town — Oct. 26 at Panino’s, 604 N. Tejon St., Colorado Springs, at 5 p.m.

Movie of the Month — Oct. 12: “Zombieland;” Nov. 9, “Dog;” Dec. 14: “The Grinch.”

Fountain Valley Harmonizers are looking for a few people to join the group to sing for Christmas. Practice is at 2:30 on Wednesdays.

Job openings at the center — The Senior Center has three part-time openings available at this time:

• Transportation office: Looking for an energetic individual to work in a fast paced environment and advanced computer skills of Microsoft Excel 20 - 25 hours per week. Flexible schedule and must have great phone and customer service skills. Must have a passion to work with Seniors. No benefits are offered. • Business office: Looking for an outgoing individual with excellent customer service skills who has a passion to work with Seniors. Computer experience skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher is a plus. Phone experience is a plus, 20-25 hours a week schedule, sorry no benefits are offered.. • Custodial position: Looking for a reliable hard working individual who is self motivated and can work on their own for 20 - 25 hours a week. Custodial experience is a plus, Monday - Friday workweek with occasional weekend hours. No benefits are offered. Please contact the Fountain Valley Senior Center 719-600-2644

Regular Events (See full event list at center, 5745 Southmoor Drive.)

Coffee and Donuts – Monday through Friday starting at 8 a.m. – donations welcome, donuts are 50 cents. Come join us and shoot the breeze, chew the fat, spread some gossip.

Bingo – Every Tuesday and Thursday at 1 p.m. Cash prizes, popcorn, soda and great fun.

Lunches are served Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. for a suggested donation of $3.50 for those over 60. If under 60, there is a cost of $7.25 per person.

The Thrift Store is open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. and on the 1st Saturday of the month for Super Saturday where all items are 50 percent off. The third Thursday of the month is Military Day, and with a valid Military ID items are 50 percent off.

Dementia Support Group meets every third Monday of the month at 2 p.m. at the center in the conference room. The public is invited to attend.

Cardio Drumming meets at the center every Tuesday at 2 p.m. for a half-hour of music, exercise and fun.

Tap Dance Classes — Dottie White teaches a tap class Tuesdays 10:15-11:15 a.m. for all abilities. Call the office to participate.

Blood Pressure Checks — Bi monthly Blood Pressure checks are back at the Senior Center. Volunteers will record your blood pressure and weight at the center every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10:15-11:15.

Transportation is provided by appointment for seniors 60-plus or non-elderly disabled to: medical appointments, congregate meals, shopping, personal business, and FVSC. Call 719-600-2643 at least 48 hours in advance.

Thursdays are prescription pickup day at Fort Carson.

Instructions for us to pick up your prescriptions: When you call Evans for refills you need to select option three (3). This will send your prescription to the old commissary, where the FVSC representative will pick it up before delivering it to your house.
