Wag of the Week

This week we feature Duke, a 2-3-year-old Anatolian Shepherd/lab mix. He can be dog selective at first, but warms up after a while. He is a sweetheart! Polar is a 2 year old Lhasa Apso with lots of love to give! Such a cutie! Greta is a Bull Mastiff mix and is 2 years old. She weighs about 60lbs. Penelope is a pit/lab mix and weighs about 35lbs. She's pretty young; we believe she's around 8 months. She does get along with other dogs. There are many other deserving dogs as well who need forever homes.

Also, I mentioned this last week, but AARF needs YOU. There are many ways to volunteer; just call one of the numbers below. One of our powerhouse volunteers is moving across the country, and we need to at least try and fill her extremely talented and dedicated shoes.

I am about to embark on training one of my dogs to the leash. She was perfect at first, but not any longer. And with my terrible back, the situation's gotten really bad. I do have a very big yard fenced – this was a priority for me, as I'm an older person; I knew I could not walk daily. But currently, I don't rotate the dogs (I have three), because Willow, my husky mix, wouldn't get a turn. I'm into fairness in a big way, and dogs are "into" unfairness similarly. This situation has to resolve, or at least, I have to try. I have contacted a LOCAL trainer who DOES come to the house, and will let you know how it goes! (Here is a hint: the organization has a coupon in this very newspaper right now, but I found it by googling.) There are many benefits to walking a dog, and perhaps I'll address those next time. For now, enjoy this beautiful fall weather, and walk for two (I guess that would be 4 – or possibly 6...).

AARF holds adoption fairs at Petsmart on Powers on SUNDAYS (formerly Saturdays) 11-2: 2965 N New Center Pt., Colorado Springs, CO 80922. PLEASE CHECK the website/Facebook for any updates (such as inclement weather. Sometimes the fair is right here in Fountain at Tumbleweed Kennels). More info: Julie at 719-375-1200 or Cathy at 719-761-5320. Email: [email protected] or [email protected]

YOU CAN NOW VIEW DOGS AT TUMBLEWEED ANY DAY OF THE WEEK – PLEASE CALL AHEAD: 719-382-1126.
