Wag of the Week

Inevitably, because some dogs wait a long time, there will be repetition week to week. So (sadly), here is Paris's info again: Her military parents got transferred outside the U.S. and she needs a new home. She misses her family and is a bit shy when you first meet her. She also tends to be a bit shy of other dogs at first, but just needs some time and a great environment to warm up. She's an affectionate dog with a low-key temperament. Paris is a sweet fur baby that just wants love and a family to give her the time and affection she deserves. Set up a meet and greet with this baby today!

Kody is a sweet 4-year-old lab mix who is great with kids and other pets. He's about 50 lbs and very active, loving walks and lots of exercise. He's in a foster home now where they are working on his being comfortable with being alone, and he's doing great. He'd probably love a friend, though (how about Paris?)...

For some dogs at some rescues, having an established pet for the new one to learn from is required. I personally find it fascinating how animals learn from/copy one another, although it can apply to not-so-great behaviors sometimes, like today, when dog #3 learned from dog #2 that if Mom's bag (and I do mean bag, from Sunnyside Market on Ohio) is on the floor (her backpack zipper having broken), then what you do is follow dog #2 to any snacks in it. This wasn't as cute as when #1 learned from #3 what a joy it is to swing with Mom on the porch swing (if not as joyous as stolen candy).

By the way, if you, like I, are not walking your dog or dogs because of a bad (or in my case, horrible (and diagnosed) back (degenerating disks, stenosis, tons of arthritis), I want to share something that's helped me enormously. It's not a sales pitch; I have no connection to vitamin anything/anybody, but it's called Bone Health (I got it at Natural Grocer's on Nevada – again, not plugging the place, just the stuff). Very little ever helps me, in my ongoing search for better health, but I was told it was better than calcium and magnesium, and seems to be so. I have many other challenges, but this one can't – phooey – have an excuse anymore. However, I would still really love a walking partner, to encourage me; I'm right in Fountain, 2.5 miles from downtown.

AARF holds adoption fairs at Petsmart on Powers on SUNDAYS (formerly Saturdays) 11-2: 2965 N New Center Pt., Colorado Springs, CO 80922. PLEASE CHECK the website/Facebook for any updates (such as inclement weather. Sometimes the fair is right here in Fountain at Tumbleweed Kennels).
