Support 2B to better pay, retain first responders

I think it is safe to say that the crime in Fountain has increased in the last several years. It is disheartening to see the things happening in our little town. With the threat of more houses being built east of us, we can assume it will only get worse. We will need more police and fire to ensure the safety levels for our community.
In the ballot it states that 6 police officers and 6 firefighters will be hired along with other improvements to our first responders to include "sustain current staffing levels," which I have verified means pay increases for front line officers and EMTs only to compete with the pay for first responders in Colorado Springs. Apparently, we are viewed as a training ground to move to the Springs for higher pay and would like to increase the pay to try to retain our first responders. For a minimal amount, we can ensure our safety. I will be voting yes on Ballot Issue 2B.
