Last week 30 students at Carson Middle School received a $25 gift card through TDS Telecommunications LLC's Student Appreciation Program.
The students were selected based on attendance and academic performance. TDS, the internet service provider on Fort Carson, also gave CMS a $1,000 grant to use toward its STEM program.
TDS made donations across Colorado as part of the company's new Week of Giving campaign. Themed giving events were held throughout TDS markets during the week of Nov. 28-Dec. 2.
"The Week of Giving is our way of going above and beyond our normal philanthropy," said TDS Senior Administrator of Field Marketing Tariq Bhatti. "We plan to show our appreciation for our schools and our first responders. In addition, we want to assist those who are experiencing food insecurities during this holiday season."
TDS donated to more than 100 organizations across the country for its Week of Giving, over and above its previous giving. In Colorado, Bhatti has coordinated the following give-back efforts:
• On Cyber/STEM Monday, TDS is donating $1,000 to Carson Middle School's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) program in Fort Carson.
• On Giving Tuesday, TDS is donating $1,000 to the Johnstown Downtown Development Association Toy Drive.
• On Thankful Thursday, TDS is buying lunch for first responders at the Emergency Health Services – Estes Park Health.
• On Food Pantry Friday, TDS is donating $500 worth of food items to the Weld Food Bank for residents in Weld County.
"These past few years haven't been easy, so we wanted to do a little more for the people and organizations who make our communities so great," said Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen.
One of the company's core values is giving back to the communities it serves through TDS Cares initiatives. TDS Cares initiatives occur throughout the year, and through the Be Good Citizens program, TDS provides associates with 16 hours of paid time off every year to volunteer at the 501c3 organization of their choice.
