Residents of a Fountain home were displaced just days before Christmas after a fire damaged their residence.

On Tuesday, Dec. 20, at approximately 6:47 p.m., the Fountain Fire Department (FFD) responded to a structure fire in the 700 block of Progress Drive near Jordahl Elementary School. When fire crews arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming from the back side of a single-story residential structure. Crews had water on the fire by 6:57 p.m., Fountain Public Information Officer Lisa Schneider noted.

No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported. Neighbors said the people who live in the home were away at the time, and that their pets made it out safely.

"Firefighters from Security Fire Department, Stratmoor Hills Fire Department, Hanover Fire Department, and Fort Carson Fire Department responded as well, and we are always appreciative of their support," Schneider said.
